ASSISTANT MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT
An opportunity has arisen to join our award winning company during an exciting time of growth. Reporting to the Financial Controller you will be supporting the Management Accountant in the delivery of the Joseph Heler management accounts but also taking ownership for the end to end accounting for other smaller Joseph Heler entities. This will include maintenance of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the Company’s financial results and ensure that reports comply with financial reporting standards.
Responsibilities:
Maintain highly accurate and clean accounting records.
Assist with day-to-day operations in the Finance department.
Balance Sheet reconciliations and month end backup file preparation.
To take ownership and responsibility for the collection of debts and payment runs for the smaller entities.
The production & timely submission of VAT returns for the smaller entities.
ONS Submissions.
Timeliness in the delivery of the management accounts.
Provision of useful management information to assist informed decision making
Complete monthly bank reconciliations and maintain the cash books for the smaller entities
Maintain the fixed asset register for Joseph Heler Limited and calculate the monthly depreciation charge
Where needed assist with the calculation of monthly prepayments, other debtors, accruals and other creditors.
Assist the Financial Controller with preparing the monthly stock valuation
Assist the Financial Controller with preparing accruals/ promo retro funding/over-rider pots etc, with regular reviews with sales to ensure correct levels / releases etc
Support the issue of the monthly Exec pack
Assist in maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions, including authority limits (POs, Capex & Contracts), authorisations and sign off’s.
Support the calculation and issue financial and operating metrics.
Support the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
Support the system of management cost reports ensuring overheads overspends are monitored and appropriate follow-up actions take place
Issue a monthly capex monitor detailing the progress of capex projects, in terms of spend to date and spend to completion.
Support the coordination of information to external auditors for the annual audit
Comply with government reporting requirements
Experience/Qualifications Required:
Part to Newly Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/AAT), with the expectation of study finalization to qualified accountant if part qualified.
Experience of working with a manufacturer or retailer
Food business experience would be beneficial
Prior evidence of Accounts experience
Change management / implementation of new systems
